Pay: $69,000-$85,000
FLSA Status: Full-time with benefits package. Employer pays 85% of total benefits package (health, dental, vision, FSA after 60 days). 160 hours of PTO for the first year (80 hours personal and 80 hours of set company days off), with paid company holidays off. Paid professional development and wellness perks.
Schedule: 10am to 6pm, M-F

Summary: Youth Empowerment for Advancement Hangout (YEAH) is a Black-led, community-based non-profit supporting teens and young adults in West and Southwest Philadelphia ages 15 to 24 who are impacted by violence. YEAH creates safe and authentic hangout spaces by providing culturally relevant engagement and implementing teen led interventions to address the root causes of violence. Utilizing teen action through peer led mediation and conflict resolution, community engagement, and economic opportunities, YEAH interrupts the cycle of youth community violence. YEAH acknowledges teens and young adults as the experts of their own lives and prioritizes pushing back against oppressive systems and addressing structural barriers that often lead to violence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The People and Culture Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the supervising and life cycle of the employment of all employees. They will assist with the day-to-day and long-term human resources needs, people, and culture tasks that help YEAH Philly function as a newer and growing organization and must be flexible and adaptable to the evolving needs of the organization. This is not an entry level position and candidates must have a prior human resources background. Candidates will also focus on assisting the administrative team with operational HR related tasks as needed.
Job Requirements & Skills: Philadelphia resident or residency within 6 months required. Bachelor’s or certifications in human resources required, master’s preferred. Candidates should have at least 5 years of human resources experience and have expertise with managing specific HR tasks, experience in educating and coaching staff, knowledge of state and federal labor laws, and government regulations, superb organizational and leaderships skills, must be a problem solver, and solutions focused, attention to detail, know how to take initiative, be action oriented, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must have the ability to build relationships with staff at all levels, and a willingness to work with others and respect their views. Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate updates and maintain employee handbook
- Oversee recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and termination of employees
- Obtain new hire background checks and update as needed
- Maintain employee files with necessary documentation
- Assist with administering employee benefits
- Coordinate, implement, and ensure compliance with all necessary staff training
- Coordinate performance and feedback reviews and ensure they are stored appropriately
- Be available to staff for general HR needs or concerns
- Carry out all on and off-boarding responsibilities, including coordination of orientation and conducting exit interviews
- Monitor and advise staff on changes in labor laws, both federal, state and local level and ensure compliance
- Create and implement policies related to HR as needed
- Maintain and report on workplace health and safety compliance
- Stay up to date on emerging best practices in non-profit HR management
- Prepare and analyze reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of HR
- Oversee day-to-day activities for employee leaves of absence, short-term disability, FMLA requests, COBRA administration, worker’s compensation issues, PTO issues, unemployment claims and other employee leave issues
- Familiarity with: Employee Relations Management, Performance Management, Career Development, Employee Engagement, Talent Acquisition and Retention, Compensation and Benefits, Training and Development, Compliance (Pennsylvania labor laws, including health and safety) Onboarding and New Hire Orientation, Succession Planning, and Risk management
- Assist with minor operational tasks as needed to support the admin team
- Review grant and funding contracts for fund restrictions and all compliance requirements.
- Integrate all funding requirements into job descriptions, train appropriate staff, and review staff compliance with funding requirements.
